What About.... Aromatherapy for sleep?

Remember back a few weeks ago when we talked about having a bedtime ritual or routine?

It's so important to cue your body to know that it's time to wind down and rest. And sometimes it’s the little sensory things that help us shift gears at the end of the day.

Have you ever smelled something and been instantly transported somewhere else? There are certain Christmastime scents that transport me right back to my childhood home at Christmas.

What about you? A scent that reminds you of home, or your grandparents, or baking?

Our sense of smell is pretty powerful. A particular scent can remind us of a person, a place, or even a feeling. So it got me wondering… What About aromatherapy for sleep?

Aromatherapy for sleep

Don't let that big fancy word scare you off. Aromatherapy simply means that you are using scents from essential oils to create a calming atmosphere.

Lavender and chamomile are common choices for relaxation.

The interesting part isn't that a particular scent is some kind of magic sleep cure—it’s that a familiar, calming scent can become a cue that it’s time to slow down.

People often use scent in different ways:

🪻 Diffuser

🪻Pillow/linen spray

🪻Bath/body products

🪻A personal product with a calming scent

Important to note: aromatherapy isn’t a replacement for good sleep habits. Instead think of it as one small piece of the wind-down puzzle.

When I first tried the magnesium sleep products, I discovered a whole new level of what better sleep could feel like!

The lavender in the sleep lotion helped me to fall asleep faster and I slept soundly all night long. I couldn’t believe how much better I felt the next morning.

Now I find, when I use the lotion as part of my bedtime routine, the lavender scent signals my brain that it's time to get sleepy.

Seriously, I don't get to read nearly as many pages of my book as I used to. 🤣

💙 Myra's Pick of The Week

The Joyful Jordan box is our monthly subscription box, and each month has a different theme with products picked to go along with it.

Our theme this month is Sleep-tember. 😉 So I've got a special pick today- the Joyful Jordan Sleep box.

If you're curious about trying the sleep magnesium formula, this is a fun way to experience it in three different forms—spray, stick, and lotion—and see which one you like best.

This Week's Tiny Challenge

Pick one calming scent and use it consistently at bedtime for the next 3 nights.
  • Notice whether your brain starts associating that scent with slowing down and getting ready for sleep.
  • No fancy diffuser required!

And there's one more September thing I don't want you to forget about...

September Scroll & Shop!

This is where I put the month's bundles, favorites, specials, and other things I'm sharing throughout the month—all in one place.

The Scroll & Shop gets a fresh look each month, so I'll share the new one here at the beginning of every month.

And speaking of comforting scents...Bundle #5 is a Crimson Kiss bundle with warm notes of apple, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mmmmm...I love a good fall scent!

Here's to a fresh month, simple routines, and taking a little time for yourself. ❤️

❤️ Myra

P.S. If you're a scent-sensitive person, don't feel like you have to use essential oils just because everyone says you should. Your version of relaxing counts, too!

Born and raised a Southern girl, I am a Christian and blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart. We have 2 daughters, 2 sons, 2 dogs and 2 cats. We built our family through birth and by way of adoption. And yes my house is full and so is my heart! But enough about me, let’s talk about you. My favorite thing to do is encourage ladies around me to live their best life by finding positive and uplifting things to focus on, giving tips on things that have worked for our family, and sharing new things I find along the way. Memorials for 9/11 attacks on US

Friday, September 11th, 2026 25 Years. A somber anniversary. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the anniversary of this terrible day in our American history. I still remember where I was when I heard the news. Do you? I also remember the emotions I felt that day and the days that followed. We can "Never Forget" what happened that day, the lives lost, and the families left behind who are our fellow Americans. I'm praying for those families today and for our nation as we remember this sad...

What about........ Wednesday! What About.... Lotion Bars Did everyone have a great long weekend? We actually traveled to Southern Illinois for a family reunion on my husband's side. We found a sweet little VRBO out in the country with a pool and a fishing pond. My kids (and their Dad) really enjoyed fishing. Since I was traveling on Monday, I wasn't able to do my regular Monday email and you know how it is to play catch up after you've been gone, so I was doing that yesterday. 😉 Today I...
